I have been a gnostic and did not know it for years in the orthodox anglican church . Elaine Pagels “The Gnostic Gospels” is an eye opener. I think any orthodox mainline church could accomodate gnosticism without a great deal of upheaval. Its all there, buried in the Eucharist, it just needs freeing. I am trying to do so in Vancouver. |

Interesting. So the secret teachings were of logic? Why then are these teachings so hidden? Some of the same principals are in the bible. The problem with mainstream christianity is our judgemental attitude toward sin as well as others. It comes from an awakening of the concience as led by the Holy Spirit. Think toddler mentality spiritually The problem is when we get stuck at that stage and can’t move past it. Christ tought universal love. He denounced sin while conveying a message of love for the person who was sinning. We are to emulate him in all ways, not just on sunday but every day. Remember these are valuble teachings but we must unify them with his public teachings to get the whole picture. God bless!! |
